Sailor Pandora's Box
theme: fan senshi

-aw man, that MIDI is terrible. I'm trying to listen to music I actually like!
There is just something I have to say now. Sept 11 has nothing to do with sailor moon. I find it greatly stupid to have a rememberance badge featuring a senshi. The people killed that day are not "fallen soldiers". The events involved with Sept 11 are not deserving of a web-craze, which is what all these digital ribbons are. </rant>
-Halloween is over, change the layout.
-drop down menus suck. your layout really doesn't require one.
-you spelled view wrong. check your whole site for little things like that before publishing.
-all the buttons in the profiles section is confusing. make the back button smaller. put the vote for me button on the main page.
Charon-the picture looks like it only half-loaded. make the sentence 'this is charon's theme' part of the main body of text.
Niede or whatever- having page with no content is annoying, not funny.
Pandora-this double column thing looks better than one column as in Charon's page. The MIDI caused a plug-in error. The sound links at the botton dont do anything.
Miranda-that MIDI is so awful! *sob sob*
Me-make the starry bg cover the whole page. Interesting picture....

I hit the back button and it opened in a new link. It shouldn't do that.
Images-Ah! real thumbnails! I'm glad. the re-colour jobs are done very well. Congrats! charon1 opens on that page so i have to hit the back button. fix! I love Miranda's hair. Not quite mercury, not really uranus. There really really shouldn't be a link to your updates here. The links to episodes and fanart shouldn't be there, just the drop down menu. I REALLY don't understand why the first block of pics in Lori's Fanart isn't on the Images page. AAAAAHHHH! Your navigation SUCKS! I am so utterly confused. DON'T put links at the end of a page! Okay. Take the counter and vote for me out of all the subpages.
BSSM M-didn't see any broken links. not gonna read the fics. same comments as above.
Mythology-red on black is hell to read. what about the other senshi you made?
Contests-Stop indenting so much. It looks weird. Entry Two's name is unpronouncable.
Polls-I'm so glad these aren't asking who my fav senshi it. I hate pointless polls! Hentai. Why do people have a problem with hentai? Of course it should be on the web, if it wasn't that would be censorship.
Adoptions-These are really big. I highly doubt anyone would put this on their site.
Awards-*shrugs* It's fine.
Otaku Links-how are these any different from normal links? cause they are fanchar pages? who cares? just have one links page.
okkayy...three times now, clicking on SM Links has caused Explorer to close. uhm, yeah.
When I saw bookmarks I thought you meant web bookmarks, not actual BOOK bookmarks. I've never seen this before. Pretty cool.
Updates should be the first thing on the list. Since About Me is here, take it off the profiles page.

Overall, this site has lots of technical errors. The content isn't bad, but I hate the layout. Get rid of the MIDIs and links and counters.

¤ The splash pic is awesome, but the graphic text is unreadable and does not suit the theme well. I surf listening to music and contrary to what you think, the midi only detracts from your site. Also, don't put you webrings and the like on the splash page.
¤ Damn, there are midis on every page. This is very annoying and I am not aimiable when irritated. Kudos to whoever drew the pics. Once again those damnable drop downs.
¤ Not much to say about the profiles, except it is awkward that you use the names of Greek Mythological chracters and have backgrounds that do not have anything related to their name. Interesting presentation for you bio.
¤ The 'images' and 'fanart' section could be compiled into one section.
¤ Well, I must say, this is the first fan senshi site with an episode like layout. Quite interesting.
¤ The mytholoy section is lacking. You could add information on Charon and the other characters utalized in your plotline.
¤ The 'request a senshi' section is bare and I suggest putting the rules on the page as opposed to a link to them. Fields are always good for any type of submissions.
¤ Once a contest expires you should take it down.
¤ Hmm. Not much to say about the 'adoptions' and 'polls'.
¤ Your awards are exclusive to fan senshi creators. Try expanding the areas in which you give awards. It's rude to even consider the fact that someone may have or not signed your gbook.
¤ Okay this has been bugging me alot. Do you know what otaku means? It means nerd so please stop using it in the wrong context (trust me, I have a Japanese friend). Anyways, I suggest you get more links up other than you small compilations of three links in the 'fan senshi sites' section. As for teh normal links it's always nice to link reviewers who have reviewed your site, and people whom you go graphics and codes from as well. Your link sections are so small I suggest merging them into a single links section.
¤ Ok I hate to bash graphics, but you submitted you site as a whole to be reviewed, including graphics. First of all, the button is not the standard size for buttons. The red line on top uselessly absurd and the motto has nothing to do with the site. Their are tons of free good button makers. Enlist one of them for help. Also, homestead does not premit direct linking.
¤ In the credits section, you might want to list the programs you used and such.
¤ You should add a contact form.
¤ The bookmarks section is pointless since no one actually prints all those free Sm bookmarks around. Also, the res. for the graphic is bad, very bad.
¤ Once again, the thing I hate most, people who make you click thru for updates. You really should list the latest update on the main page.
¤ In general, making your own graphics is always good. Frankly, this sie has what I call the cut-and-paste look. In otherwords there is way to much copied syntax and graphics. Also, this site has a loy of potential, but won't get very far unless you get someone with a good amount of html/ dhtml, java, cgi/ perl knowledge or learn it yourself (whic isn't really very hard). Finally, counters do not need to appear on each and every page.

Quite sorry about the whole, really not doing these things-- been working on my halloween costume. I'm Xelloss, and a guy in the Anime Club I go to is going to be Zelgadis. Fun! On to the Review!
Splash Page - Oooh, cute picture. Nice and Halloweenie. Well, at least, the candy bag is. The bunny girl just looks like she's trying to fit into that bunnygirl Sailormoon picture that's floating around out there. Webrings are below the entrance thing, and then there's that wonderful picture for the attacks on WTC and the Pentagon. Very nice. There art isn't the highest grade you can have, but it's very, very good for the level it's at.
Layout - Kindof a basic layout-- something down oneside, and everything in the middle, not that I'm complaining. I've done a few layouts like that myself. Side image looks more like something from Escaflowne, not Sailormoon. Don't like the music, but you can at least turn it off. Ivf you're gunna have music, you can at least make it try to fit with the rest of the page's theme, luv.
Profiles - Badness ensuing! There's music I cabn't turn off! The image for the profiles is interesting-- Senshi of the moons of Saturn, are they? Might as well pop into the profiles and see the who's who. Whoa hoe! The profiles are set up beautifully, while still in the traditional profile format. The pictures and the words match. (The miranda image looks like Ami-chan) Senshi Pandora's got a bit of a different profile set up; nice sentence at the bottom tho' ("Kono wa watashino burouchu no henshin desu. Kawaii ne?" = "This is my transformation broach. Cute, huh?"-- and yes, I knew that without having to look it up.) Although... maybe you mean "Tsuki", not "Tskui" for the name. "Tsuki" means moon, pet. Tskui is just misspelt; but then... a lot of Digimon names come from words being misspelt and... ...back tot he review. I'm rambling again.
Images - S'kinda obvious that a number of the pictures are just edited Sailormoon ones, but they were done rather nicely. It's hard to find edited images that look nice. For the fan art, well, like I said before, some of it looks like it should be from Escaflowne.
BSSM Fanart - Basic Otaku Senshi requests Fan art page.
BSSM M- *brushes crumbs off her Xelloss Cape, as she returns to finish the review from a night of... dying her hair purple.* Alright, this is The Story. Most people call this page type area, "The Story", but You're calling it Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon M. One point for an inventive name... oh wait, we're not doing points. My bad.
Senshi Mythology - Oi, haven't seen one of these since I signed up at SMyth. Oooh, nice description of Pandora. (Myth, not senshi) Very nice. Hey, so I'm a ancient religion buff, what's the deal?
Request a Senshi Drawing - Down, but not gone, eh? I'll have to pop by when you get it up, luv.
Contests - Interesting contest, with nice prizes. I'm not big on contests-- at least, ones that are rewarded with computer graphix.
Polls - Oooh, I like these. Can you guess which poll I voted on? *smiles innocently, glancing at her NC17 stuff*
Moon Senshi Adoptions - Adopting Otaku Senshi. Why would someone want to adopt Otaku Senshi? Why would someone adopt even the sailorsenshi...? Can you tell I don't like the adoption things? The rest of the stuff is the general, credits, links, awards, and about the mistress. I don't like to look in there, and I'm not about to look now. So, Ja for now!

Reviewed 11/04/01
Splash- Ooh, cute fanart. *midi starts playing* Grrrr. You don't have a player for the midi, so I can't turn it off without clicking the stop button. I never understood the point of having a midi on the splash page anyway. Your visitor won't be there long enough to listen to it. (Ever notice how my reviews seem to turn into long-winded rants? ^^;)
Main- Another midi, but this time with a player. Thank you!!! I don’t like drop-down menus for navigation because I can’t see all the links at once, but that’s a personal preference of mine. It would be nice if you had the title of your site in the window bar. “Veiw” should be “View” in the drop-down box.
Profiles- Egads, another midi! And no player. *sighs* I like your design throughout so far. I didn’t read the profiles too closely, but I noticed a typo of the word “Sailor” on Miranda’s page. You need to finish Neriede’s page. I like the graphics throughout the profiles.
Images- The fourth image in the second row doesn’t open in a new window like the rest of the images. Everything else looks very nice. Did you make most of these images yourself?
Episodes- The midi players for these episodes should be at the top of the page.
Senshi Mythology- This page is fine.
Request a Senshi Drawing- You need to get this back up soon or take the link down.
Contests- September 31, 2001? Hasn’t this date already passed? You should post the winners.
Polls- Good, a way for your visitors to interact.
Adoptions- Is it just me or do these senshi look _a lot_ like the senshi from the series?
Awards- In the “For You” awards, the second award graphic’s text looks a little grainy. You might want to fix it.
Otaku Senshi Links- These all work.
SM Links- You might want to put the names of these sites in the ALT tags for the buttons.
Link PB- Wouldn’t it be appropriate to have a button with a picture of your otaku senshi?
Thank You, Contact: These are fine.
Bookmarks- Very unique!
Updates, About Me- Didn’t check closely.

There’s no question that your site is original, after all, it is devoted to Otaku senshi. For no particular reason I’ve decided to start by stating some negative aspects of your website. Most negative aspects concern the overall cruddiness of Homestead. My first website was on Homestead, I liked managing it for a time, but soon I found that I wanted to try new and creative things, that couldn’t be accomplished with this server. The first thing I have to say about your site is that it is very, what’s the word…Homesteadified (okay, so that technically isn’t a word). You have huge spaces between items on pages; you’ve got those Homestead ads on the bottom of some of your pages and your text is every size and type possible. Try to limit the types of font on your site to one or two at the most. You also lack back buttons and I (personally) consider it pointless to have counters on every single minor page. You should also limit your guestbook to just being on your main page. It was really annoying when I first got into your site and I couldn’t even turn the midi off, because it was invisible. The fanart splash image is really neat, I like it, it’s kind of festive (in the spirit of Halloween). Your splash page does have a purpose (that’s nice to see!). It states the resolution, then lets you choose the route to go. I think that you should put your webrings on a different page! On the second main page, I enjoyed the layout very much. It was simplistic and unique (due to the fanart). I was so glad over the opportunity to turn off the midi once I arrived at this destination. You should work on making sure that the music doesn’t play automatically upon entering the page. Midis shouldn’t be forced on people, especially when many prefer to listen to MP3s. It’s really annoying how the midi plays automatically every time you go back to the main page. On to the profiles... I generally don’t like profiles, but for Otaku senshi I can make an exception. After all, I am meeting these characters for the first time. The profiles section was actually fairly well done. It was wrought with several spelling and capitalization mistakes, such as “diappearing” and “doable”. I thought you should have had more actual pictures of the Otaku senshi on their profiles. The shadow graphics were pretty, but I think that your audience would benefit more in seeing what the senshi look like. Right now it’s pointless to have the Neriede page. People like seeing information, not under construction signs. You had a nice picture of the cat ‘Apollo-kun’, but really no information on him. That picture of Pandora’s eyes appearing on a mouse-over is neat, but pointless in my opinion. On the Pandora page the “Henshin phrase!” and “Intro speech!” don’t exist and you should take these links that don’t exist down. I found it was kind of stupid that Sailor Charon can stop time, but Sailor Pluto can’t. You had interesting info. on the mythology associated with Pandora. I just had to mention this mistake because it’s kind of ironic. It’s like an advertisement for a college that I saw once; it said something like “Prairie Center College, a place of learnig”. Under the story editing section of your personal profile you spelled piece of paper with an e before the i. I liked the good-natured comments in the Me section. It definitely showed the personality of the webmistress. I dislike how you never included ALT mouse-over text in your image galleries. ALT text or picture descriptions would be very useful because the characters in your gallery are new to your audience. The audience needs to know what characters they’re looking at. I like how you give credit to someone how shaded one of your pictures. Your Illustrations AKA Episode Pictures page could use a snazzy background and some sort of pick-me-up; it’s so plain! The contest is an interesting idea, but I don’t know if anyone will apply. I had a contest once where people had to name their favorite senshi and explain why they liked them. I think I only got only one semi-serious applicant, and the rest weren’t interested in winning at all. If someone makes the effort to enter your contest, then I would be interested in seeing what the resulting story would be. You’ve got some kawaii senshi to adopt! You should put ALT text on your links. You should also create more linking banners with some of your own made-up senshi featured on them. Updates and contact sections are always great to have! You have a very unique website, with a definite story line. I found that your story was actually the most interesting part of your site. You tend to make assumptions that your audience knows the characters, just as well as you know them. Your audience probably won’t focus on learning every single detail pertaining to an Otaku senshi. Your site’s unified theme was well dealt with, but there are many aspects under which you could improve. I don’t go to Otaku senshi websites that often, so this is one of the better sites of this nature that I have seen. Your site has potential, but so many technicalities have to be worked out first. One thing that I would suggest is find a different server! Pay for Homestead until you have all your pages moved to another place! From, Kaioh Michiru
