Palace Library
theme: fan fics

Once again, I'm really not sure what the name of this site is. The <title> is Palace Archive, but that doesn't go with the title on the page or the welcome. fix..
The intro is too big and shouldn't be double spaced. The is a broken pic at the bottom. You might want to get a better layout.
New Fanfiction-ahh...this is badly organized, HTML knowledge of any kind would fix this. For some reason the updates page is called journal page. blah this just really confuses me. this page is useless, if you have new fanfic just put it with the old stuff with an asterisk next to it so people know it's new. Don't put links at the bottom of a page, just a back button to main page.
Authors-If there is none for that letter, eliminate that letter and save space on the page. Each author has a different bg, which gets annoying. Some of the..uh..not tiled but the other one..banner? bar? backgrounds. the text goes over the image, showing that you really don't know what you're doing HTML wise. My first angelfire page had the same problem. Go find some HTML help pages and it will look a lot better.
Submit-the font is too big. I find this funny. No! Hentai will be accepted! See, the exclamation mark after 'no!' means 'hentai..' is a new sentence, so you are actually saying you WILL accept hentai. Dont put that after the rules, make it #4.
Way too many exclamation marks on the credits page. The webrings page looks good. "welcome to the polls page" after the title is pointless. I'd use 'redundant' but you might be 12. One of the poll questions is 'what page do I need to fix?' too bad there is no option of 'all of them'. Since you only have one award you don't need a whole page for it. There is a broken image in the Link section.

Overall, this person needs HTML knowledge. Other than that, not bad.

¤ Another annoying midi and more use of backgrouds that repeat themselves, I use 1024 x 768 and this site look horrible with the repating background.
¤ The last element on the page, linked pic, does not load. The test and background color of the table could be a little more pleasing to the eye.
¤ Try not to switch so much in the weight and alignment of your font, it's looks mismatched.
¤ The 'new fan fiction' page is more like a massive update setion with a blog. Try keeping it soley for the listing of new pieces. Also, it never hurts to keep the latest update on the main page.
¤ The first stipulation for guidlines is a rather akward run on sentence, see if you can clean it up. You might also want to consider adding a submit form for those who have their stories already uploaded.
¤ On the credits page you should thank the graphics shops that you utalized through linkage.
¤ Wow, joined enough webrings?
¤ Hmm see if you can get the poll colors to match the pages color scheme. (By the way, the polls didn't work for me.)
¤ I suggest putting the sailors section under the s's in the authors archieve.
¤ Usually it's customary to link the site that gives you an award.
¤ The top link banner pic is broken.
¤ Overall the plus points of your site is that it has conformity. It's really not that bad. I suggest trying to work on the athetic aspect of it. (GET RID OF THE MIDI'S!)

You’ll have to forgive my laziness with this review; I’ve done it in
point form.

General Suggestions:
- Get rid of invisible midis, at least make the midis visible so people can turn them off!
- Put back buttons on every page (it’s annoying having to do it manually on the browser)
- Take the counters off every page but the main page
- Any font above 12 or maybe 14 point is too big for anything other than a title

Main Page:
- I know that this is primarily a fanfiction site, but still…the layout is too simplistic.  Lycentia is a genius, but everyone uses her graphics so try to at least get use a background that isn’t overused
- Why is the text double-spaced?
- Everything is organized.  The table is plain, but it does a good job of keeping everything aligned!
- There’s a broken picture at the bottom of the page

Credits:
- Why are there no links in the credits section?
- You should credit all the sources of your backgrounds

My Journal:
- Why don’t you call it the Updates section

Submission Guidelines:
-The huge writing overwhelms me.  You should shrink the font considerably.  Don’t make the page look more full by making the font bigger, that’s a no-no.
- Too many spelling and grammar mistakes
- Only one exclamation mark is needed for emphasis (don’t go overboard)

Polls:
- I don’t really see a point to your polls, most people lie when it comes to their true opinion about your site
- Your polls aren’t aligned

Clubs/Awards:
It’s pointless to call this section clubs/awards if you don’t belong to any clubs.  Try to find the URL for your award and link the award!

Fanfiction:
Since this is the major part of your site, I will write the commentary up in sentence form.  I like the way that you have the fanfiction organized, under the author’s web name.  I didn’t read much of the fanfiction, but the stuff I did read ranged from bad to good.  Some of it made absolutely no sense though.  I’m entirely for artistic license, but I don’t think that Michiru would ever get pregnant by Seiya. It’s annoying how I always have to scroll over to the right to see a full paragraph.  Since you allege to have read each of the stories on your site, you should provide a commentary and brief summary for each of the stories.  For example I doubt if someone who didn’t like Dragon Ball Z would want to read a story about Dragon Ball Z meets Sailor Moon. You should get some of your own fanfiction up because your site really has no creative aspects that reflect on you.

General Comments:
Don’t be afraid to become creative with your site.  Even though you know very little HTML, you can still make your site more creative!  The only reason I would come back to this site is for the extensive fanfiction library, other then that, it lacks in creativity and even basic things like back buttons and reasonably sized text. Heck, I can’t even listen to my own music on this site!
From,
Kaioh Michiru

Layout- The "Support Freedom" icon on the main page should be closer to the bottom. Even though it's important, you want to draw the viewer's eye to your site first. Since these backgrounds weren't made by you, you need to give credit to the sites where you found them, along with links to those sites. It's important. By the way, several of these backgrounds don't look right because they weren't used properly. Check out a tutorial on how to use border backgrounds. You can't just use it like a tile background.

Coding- There are midis without players running amok! Please code in players for them or get rid of the midis entirely. The link to "Everybody Loves Artemis" and "Daisy's Bizarre Adventure" on Tuxedo Uranus's page is broken. Also, Part 2 of "Why do you want me" on Ari-chan's page is broken. "Hope and Faith" on the "Our Daughters" (fic by Angel Raye) page is broken. There are broken images on the main page and the links page.

Organization- All of the links are self-explanatory. Good. Several of the links are repeated on other pages, which confused me.

Content- Well, your page stays on topic. Just fanfics. I can't review fanfics, because I'm not qualified. Since you are only featuring fanfics, descriptions of each fic would be nice. Maybe you could even use a rating system.
Mechanics- On the new fics page, "everyones" should be "everyone's". Some of your punctuation spacing is incorrect because of a new line starting. Try to stay away from that.

It looks to me as if you have a lot of work to do. If you are only going to feature fanfics, that's okay, but that means that your layouts should be set up properly. Keep working at it!
