theme: WPR
YAY! I've always wanted to do a WPR! I've never understood why some won't do a fellow WPR. I mean, their site could still use a hand and some advice! As my super-cool team is about to demonstrate. First off, this is a really boring name. And I mean really boring. It's pretty cool how the geocities ad is hidden behind the image. The CONTENT thing looks silly. The Mars image is..mm..it's pretty good, actually. It's a nice clean layout, well done. Updates-ugh, I hate the numbers for days. Can anyone look at that and immediatly tell me what month it was writen in? unless it's 1, 2, 11 or 12 I doubt it. tum tee tum..I don't really like this background or font. Consistency is a good thing, for aesthetic and other reasons. Meet the Senshi-I can see the line where the picture repeats, not good. find a seamless background. Eternal-yeah. these bgs suck. I dislike reading form profiles. they are impersonal. I also don't care to know your real name. Sure, I'm Fishuu here and Pera elsewhere, but Pera ain't my real name either. Excessive exclamations. Saturn-I DISLIKE YOU! I despise it when the same person works at more than one WPR, and I've seen your email on at least three. What, is reviewing some kind of wgo boost? why aren't you satisfied with your own WPR? Doesn't that make your team feel dumb and not good enough? you suck. hey, was that a flame? heh. Fireball-same to you then. Okay, I have long since stopped caring. Really, what is the point of working on different teams? The sites you review are getting a shoddy rush job, and if they apply to more than one team they are getting the same thing. pah! Rules-simple rules, no complaints. This review is full to the brim of my bitching, and here is another one! geez, i could make an article out of this review. WPRs. It is not WPR's. When you really mean to use the letter S in a plural form, by doing 's you make it as though the WPR posseses something. "The WPR's team is cool" or "I think WPRs are cool" are correct. Everybody got that? good. This I agree I don't agree stuff is stupid. A person can still click agree without reading the rules. what you do is this: "rule#7 in the box what sais Jake you put Susan so I know you read the rules" and if they don't do it then you know they didn't read the rules. Why is there suddenly a huge homestead ad? blech, find somewhere else. Current-I've always disliked this setup. Each reviewer has their own seperate stuff, which confuses the hell out of me because I like things to be linear. Every wonder why my team is almost always in the same order? linear is good. Anyway, this makes having a team really pointless. It's like they each have their own little WPR. A second reason I dislike it is because you only get one person's opinion. If you go through I Review's stuff you'll see that we often have very different opinions on the same site. As a site owner, that's what I'd go for in a WPR. I'm going to look at Kousagi review since I Review did that one too. You have a percentage. ugh. Rant #3-I dislike percentages. It's 93/100 in this case. That tells me nothing about the site, because I would give sailormoon.org a 84/100. Are you going to tell me you can compare a huge amazing site like sm.org to Kousagi? hahahah...(no offence to Kousagi). Numbers can never convey a site's worth. Why is there so much blank space? I don't like this font. Is that to make it look bigger? UGH! Okay, Kousagi is about a little known SM Parallel world type story. reading this review, I have no idea what the site is about. It gives no help or tips whatsoever, just 'this is nice' or 'this is interesting'. blah. oh yeah, Where is the damn site link? I can't even look at the site being reviewed because there is no link! Moonkitty is a bit better. But still WAY too short. I mean, look at how our reviews are. good gods, here is one review. a complete review: Layout: Very kawaii!! (Cute) I love it! Just in time for Christmas too, right? *Smiles* Organization: No broken links, the layout didn't mess up or anything, very nice! Content: I had to switch my gears to a site like yours. A very nice site indeed, I'd submit my link, but my site is down. Your site has a bunch of things that its supposed to have (? Like the members, and submitting stuff...) and a little more! Very nice! Overall: A very good site! I love it! Exspecially the layout! You did a very nice job! You gotta be kidding me. This review is a joke and an insult to real WPRs. Archive-I've always disliked a seperation of current and past. Just date the damn things and have one page! I can see a few sites that we've had submitted to you as well. I wonder whose review they found most useful! Win an Award-Rant #4-good freakin god! I counted 42 awards to win. That's so damn pathetic I can't even start. Do I really need to repeat my stance on the meaningless nature of web awards? especially when in this high quantity! Free Graphics-This could be a seperate site. The buttons are not standard size (88 x 31) so they are ugly. No, really, for that reason alone people won't use them. Instead of putting them on seperate page keep it on one page with name headers. These bgs are the same as used in this site, which leads to me seeing the same bg on other people's sites, which is very boring. These aren't layouts! This is so fake! It's just a big picture! Last time I checked, free layouts include the HTML, where to put the links and such. URGH! The guestbook grapgics are very big and will only be used by people who have never made a site before. wow! you see the Naissa ones? THAT is what a gb link should look like. Policy should be the page that comes up after you hit the link to Free Graphics, forcing people to read it. Awards-you have won meaningless awards. good for you. Link me-too fuzzy. Contact me-are you the only person on this site? nnooo so don't just give me one person's info! Also, this section is pointless because if I wanted to contact you or your team I would look in Meet the Senshi, cause the emails are there. guestbook-looks clean. Overall-to be rude, this is a waste of a WPR. The review are so short as to be non existant, and since the people are all on other teams i can get their opinion elsewhere. If you get rid of the gratuitious stuff, there are only six parts of this site. I found this place boring and easily forgotten, which sucks in the competitive WPR world. ![]() Layout- Nice Sailormars image, although with a name like "Eternal Sailor Moon's Reviews" wouldn't it be better with a picture of Usagi? And why does the red banner at the top of the text box red "Content"? It looks like like you forgot to make your own little name-banner. Updates - Lets say this all together now, "Aian doesn't look at these". Meet the Senshi - And now it's Small Lady Selenity/Serenity for the background. Consistancy people. *point at ESM & Saturn, glaring* Thou shalt not speak against digimon adventure! Get Your Site Reviewed - Well these rules are fairly basic... Only one reviewer per site? Well, then you don't really get to see what all the reviewers think. A pretty basic form though. Current Reviews - Thats... er... interesting I guess. Not a whole lot of reviews there, ne? Review Archive - Ah here they are. Why do you have a "Review Archive" and a "Current Reviews" thing? Wouldn't it be easier with them all in one place? Anyways the reviews are all basically the same (looking at the layout, organization, Creativity). It's a percentage based system. I'm not much on any form of system of rating. But then, that's probably why I'm part of I Review [That, and I forgot to talk Fishuu out of making it, oh so many months ago... *grin*] Win an Award - I've said it before, and I'm obviously saying it again. There is no use for awards. Anyone can give out an award... Free Graphics - Who is "Me"? Which of the reviewers is "Me"? What's with the constant capitals and the exclamation marks. I hate to say it, but some of these are really lame -- you can't even tell who it is for pluto/saturn buttons! With the layouts, you really should have spliced and made them on your own (and yes, I do know how long this takes. It took 8 hours to get my Vash layout done) And you shouldn't write across the images. One can not change the text once you've done that. Links/Awards I won/Link Me/Contact Me/Sign*View - Once more, things I don't do. Shishi, the site doesn't really have any uniformity to it. And as everyone knows, I love website uniformity. ¤ The background picture has an unsightly white line on the left. The quality of the 'content' lable isn't to great. ¤ It would be helpful to have the latest update on the main page. The 'updates' page is rather text heavy and gives me an eye strain. I suggest not using new courier or any serif font on the backgound you have choosen because it is hard to read. ¤ After reading all the information you provide, I suprised that since most of you work at a number of review sites and own numerous sites, that none of you have bothered to see whether or not your font color is easy to read on the backgrounds you've chosen, or why none you have bothered to make this site in html. The profile on Star Fighter was rather anoying to read with all the missused punctuation marks and akwards use of capitaliztion and creatively irritating spelling methods. I don't understand why you all have such an aversion to hentai (BSSM is actually a hentai series especially in the manga) and to Dragon Ball (since of all the anime web communities they have the greatest amount of knowledge in coding and graphics). But to each their own opinion, however since this is a reviewing site, one would hope the people reviewing it were perhaps a bit more professional. If I were to have a site and mention DBZ on it, would you completely bash my site? ¤ Until has one L. Your third rule is akward, no cussing is allowed, but what do flames have to do with anything? If you mean a minimum on sections such as responses to flames, blacklist sections, or bashing other sites/ series (though you happen not to set a very good model in this catagory) then say so, because your wording is vague. It's not nice to force someone to link before you review, hinting and suggesting is more polite and people usually won't mind if you ask nicely. ¤ Why is someone supposed to give a summary of their site before you review? It's pointless. Also, I though the point of having a review group ws to get several opinons in one go, Ebert and Roeper don't review movies separetly. ¤ I couldn't help but noticing that most of your awards seem to be pictures with a few words slapped on them, not very impressive. I'd embarrassed to be offered one of them. Most of them have very very vague qualifications and most of the listed criteron are opinion based. ¤ The buttons you offer are not the standard button size, and the quality isn't to great, anyone can crop and tint a picture. The backgrounds are rather mundane, and all of them could do with being at least an increase in the opacity of 20% if not more. DEAR GOD! You have the audacity to call those horribly edited pictures layouts?! You are a disgrace upon webdesigners everywhere. I suggest first learning the basics of webdesign before creating these horrors that only few amatures are capable of. How can one picture be a layout? I don't think any of you are qualified to review sites since you even consider offering such destestable excuses for 'layouts'. How in their right mind would use such large pictures to link their gbook? Once again cropping does not cut it. ¤ I can't tell exactly by looking, but your link buttons/banners don't seem to be the standard size. The quality is very bad on all of them with very obvious and bad compression marks. Yeah, the first WPR that I get to review, with the rest of I Review of course! The layout is rather bland and the picture is kind of kind of poor quality. I got the idea that you were trying to achieve some sort of texture with the picture but it just appeared as flat and stagnant. There are also tiny white parts along the top and left side of the picture, that could easily be fixed by putting on a button effect or putting a line around all sides of the layout to conceal it. It looks like you were too lazy to fix such a minor mistake. In addition to that the layout is done in completely in PageBuilder format and I never consider sites done in this manner to be a good example to others. One plus side about the layout is that even though you used a page builder, the text was aligned. Updates: Not much to be said here, this is a good section to see. No back button is around though. Meet the reviewers: I liked the character specific backgrounds you had on each of the pages. The profiles werent too long and as a result they werent overly boring. Yet again there are no back buttons. Get your site reviewed/Rules: I dont understand why you have a period and a bracket after the number of each rule, usually a person uses one or the other. Perhaps you should specify how much time should go by before a person can get a re-review. I dont understand what this rule is supposed to mean No cursing, flames are ok, but keep it to a minimum. Most people are unable to flame another person without some measure of cursing. Then later on you post the following rule Don't be mad about the mark you get and flame us, it is not fair to us and if you can't handle it then don't bother submitting! So what exactly does that mean? Are sites allowed to flame you or not and if so are they allowed to flame you as long as they dont curse? Its kind of good to make people look over the rules before they submit a site, although they could always ignore the rules and just scroll to the bottom of the page without reading. The form is on a homestead site and perhaps you should look into getting a form at Bravenet or Freedback because those Homestead ads are so ugly. Reviews: All right, you dont know how to give an opinion in a review about a site. A lot of times you just describe what the different sections are about. You are way to easy on people in your reviews. This is something I learned in English a while ago nice can mean a lot of things, look it up in the dictionary and use something more descriptive. Not many of the reviewers have any common sense. The average mark must be about 90% and Ive been to some of the sites youve reviewed and I certainly disagree with the marks. Youre way to easy on sites and I think part of that might be the fact that your too lazy to check if theyve got real thumbnails or if theyve given credits to everyone. You should describe what makes a site great or what makes a site poor in more detail. I dont believe that these reviews will ever aid anyone, youre probably telling them things they already know. Win an Award: I am a firm believer that WPRs should stick to simply reviewing, if they want to give out awards like bronze, silver or gold based on the sites mark than thats fine, but I dont believe in giving out 42 awards to sites. I counted the awards and I think I came up with the number forty-two! The time spent looking over all those sites that apply for awards would be better spent making more detailed reviews. Im not anti-award but I just dont think that WPRs are a place to give out so many awards because looking over the sites that apply wastes time. The only plus side about the awards section is that the awards all look somewhat original, and by this I mean the text on them is cool. Another plus is that you can view each graphic by clicking on the award name, leading you to a sample. Its funny how you have a rule not allowing hentai in the rules section of your reviews, but you have no general rule like that in your awards section. Most of your award images are very large. Perhaps you should have an award winners section. Personally I would probably not put an award that large on my site, even if it meant something, the image is just so large that it would take away from a lot of my memory. The form yet again leads to homestead. Free Graphics: The policy is fairly well laid out. Some of the graphics are all right but I disliked most of them. None of the graphics are a standard size and sometimes the pictures look warped from the way that they are shrunk or expanded. It seems pointless to have a button page devoted to Sailor Pluto if you only have one button of her. If you want to make free graphics than I suppose they can be put on a review site, but they really should be on another site. The backgrounds are just slightly edited pictures, faded and with a white circle around them, I suppose the backgrounds are alright, but Im unsure if you know how to make any other kind due to the background style on your site. The backgrounds arent in real thumbnail form, but they are in a thumbnail form of sorts. I was kind of hoping that I would get to see a tiled version of the background when I clicked on the thumbnail. I would never offer graphics I use on my own site in the graphics section. The graphics you use on your site should be different from the ones in your graphics section. Your graphics are a part of what makes your own site unique. Your layouts are all right but it seems to me that theyre the type that can only be used on page maker sites unless you want to waste your time with exact positioning on HTML or make the layout into an image map of sorts. Most of the layouts are rather large and would take forever to load on a page builder especially when you add to that the fact that many people have more than just a layout on their main page. For the guestbook graphics you can tell that these can be used with HTML but theyre more built for a PageBuilder site because you have no guestbook image maps. I have to say right now that I hate text going over someones face, its one of the many things that annoys me with website graphics. I like the fact that you reversed the image using the mirror effect for the sign and view buttons. Its good that you gave credit to Naissa for her nice graphics in the guestbook image section. In conclusion, I probably would not use any of the graphics in this section, Im glad your trying to provide help in terms of graphics for other sites but in my opinion the graphics belong on a seperate site. Links: Yeah, a link to I Review, but still no back buttons in sight.  Link Me: Some of the banners are a bit fuzzy in the way that jpg images can sometimes be. Contact Me: This is a great section to have, especially for a WPR because if the forms didnt work at some point in time, than a site could still get a hold of you by lieu of e-mailing directly. Overall: There are no back buttons! You have a few problems with spelling and grammar, but nothing overly debilitating towards your site. An easy way to fix spelling and grammar errors it PUT IT THROUGH A SPELL CHECK FIRST. Im sorry for the capitalization; I just had to emphasize it because its such a simple solution for spelling errors. Theres a lot of left to right scrolling that could have been avoided on the site. Youve got a lot of things that shouldnt be on a review site in my own opinion like a hobby for obsessive award making (and probably giving out) as well as a collection of graphics that should probably be put to use on another site. This site is built with a page builder and as a result the web mistress may not understand the HTML that goes into some sites, giving them an extremely good mark as a result of that. As a result if I still had a Sailor Moon site I would probably not get it reviewed here because I like to know a little bit more than just the fact that my layout it nice and than a brief description of each section. I like to know what people really think, even if I have to provoke them into saying so. In addition to that the site name is boring. Main page- Instead of having the word "Content" at the top, why not put the site's title there? By the way, the name of your site is kind of odd considering it's not just Eternal Sailor Moon's reviews, it also contains the reviews of other members. The visited link color is hard to read against the background. Regular link color is fine. Updates- This page is all right. Glad to see that I can read the text against the tiled background. Meet The Senshi- Combine all these pages into one so I don't have to click so much. "Animes" is not a word. The word "anime" can be both singular and plural. Get Your Site Reviewed- It's kind of odd how you suddenly switch to Homestead for the submit form. Current Reviews- You might want to note which reviews are in progress by an asterisk or something. I was confused as to why some sites didn't have links. Layout and Pages seem to be on the same topic, the layout. Same for originality and creativity. They're basically the same thing. Review Archive- A lot of these reviews are awful short. Try expanding on your reviews more, and tell your fellow reviewers to do so as well. Normally reviews are designed to help a person improve their website, but if you give them a low grade with only one area to improve in, how are they going to make their site really good? Win An Award- Where's the list of sites that have won awards? "Excellent" is spelled wrong. Free Graphics- Cool, an original page for a WPR. You could use better organization, though. Put all the buttons on one page, since there aren't that many of them. There are "fake" thumbnails running rampant. Find a tutorial and make real thumbnails by resizing the original images in an image editor and saving the small images under a different filename. I'm not quite sure what your visitors are supposed to do with the images in the "Layouts" section. Perhaps you could offer a tutorial on that. Links- Oy, there be underlines running rampant! Either don't underline the headings, or use CSS to remove the link underlines. Perhaps space the links out more, too. Awards I Won- As usual, I haven't heard of any of these awards before. Goes to show how prestigious they are. *cough* *clicks back button and gets GeoCities's "exceeded data transfer message* Um. Well, if the webperson of this site wants the rest of this review, email me. |
