Thoughts on the Defacement of the Art of Webdesigning
by Kaolinite
It is becoming easier an easier for any old Joe Shmoe to make a site. Almost every site offers a WYSIWYG site builder. Frankly this is disturbing. One of the things I pride myself is writing my own code. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a drop and drag builder. The problem is when some webmasters start claiming to know html, dhtml, and javascript when all they can do is copy and paste a code. They become arrogant and frown upon html. They become reluctant to learn and do not understand the limitations of such obstincance. The reason I have this rant is due to two facts. Many people who own such sites starts one up and shut down after a few weeks. They take up webspace and bring the downfall of many companies, who are forced to limit file extensions , space allowence, and cgi/ perl and ssi support. Many of them also feign web knowledge when they don't even understand the basis webdesign. This is rather annoying when one of them insults your site saysing they can make one better than it and when you try to help them and they do not even know what how to opperate an ftp program or place a dowload on their site. If you do not know much about webdesign that's fine. Just do appreciate the work of those who code their own sites and be open to learning and accepting their help instead of insulting them. |
