Eternal Falling Feathers
theme: fanart

hmm, this layout is very cool. i like the image. it's not really a proper pop-up though is it? it looks weird. i don't know how it's done, but make it so that the images open all in the same window. like, i click the first picture a window opens, i click the second image and it loads in the same window. that way there aren't all these windows cluttering my taskbar. the home link is in too many places. the bottom scroll bar in coloured looks pretty bad. i think that box/lines thing just takes up space, you don't need it. you might want to invest in a form for donations. guestbook looks good. you really need a form for requests, especially otaku. check out some of the sites we've reviewed to see what the form should include.
Overall, very nice small site. great layout, good content.

Eternal Falling Feathers http://destined.to/MoonAngel/ doesn't want to let me review it. I keep getting a 'cannot find page' message.

¤ I'm not sure if you noticed that you title is 'The Moon Candie Shoppe'. Once again a splash page that serves no purpose at all. Javascript is a wonderful language (especially if you happen to be a programmer) but after a point I get sick of seeing cut and pasted codes.
¤ Pop ups were created for small application (Java applets) or other small tidbits...not for your whole site. On to layout: the color scheme is okay but the graphics are rather elementary and the compression/ image clarity is bad. Well the updates are in a clear linear fashion. One thing you could do to really make this site impressive is to add browser button such as back, forward, reload, and home to the naviagtion frames.
¤ Thumbnails are done correctly. Pictures opening in new windows is really agravating for viewers and does not leave a very content viewer either. One little note, it's hard to see some of the links against the background (try another color...purple or some other pastel). On a side note, on some of the pictures, you need to go back with editing software and touch them up (erase smudges and eraser marks).
¤ I don't think it is really necessary to give the guest donations separate pages, but to each his own.
¤ You might want to think about a submission form.
¤ Again, with the request section could do with a form.
¤ This site is new so I can't really say much. Just the usual, work on presentation, and content helps.

The stupid redirect URL didn’t work after the first time I used it. I ended up looking up your site name on Yahoo because I briefly looked over your site the night I got the reviews, so at least I kind of knew what the content was. I recognized the site when I reached it, but it annoys me that I had to go so far out of my way to find your site. I hate redirect URLs because:
1. often they don’t work
2. the content takes longer to load and
3. is it really worth annoying your audience just for a shorter URL?

Anyway, on to the review, at least the splash page is needed. I generally dislike pop-up windows because of the restricted navigation capabilities. I suppose the layout is nice enough (for a pop-up window), but it would be better if the layout was made with fanart because that’s what the site is based around. Personally, I prefer the chromeless pop-up look if someone is going to take the pop-up route, but so many people don’t know how to do chromeless right (including myself).

“I Review” is supposed to specifically be for sites devoted specifically towards Sailor Moon, not an all encompassing Animé fanart site. The second sentence in your opening page says, “You are the visitor.” without any sort of counter between “the” and “visitor”. The word pieces is spelled wrong in your updates, the rule is ‘i’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’. Moving from Envy to Angelfire was a good move, I hate envy so much that I usually try to avoid sites that are on there!

My Art: Alt text and real thumbnails are always a plus in my book. Your pictures also open in a new window, that’s fantasmic (sorry for the stupidity in coming up with words today). I hate commenting on people’s art, I don’t like critiquing art and writing that much, but I’ll try my best to give an honest opinion. You’re art is very unprofessional looking, but it’s not entirely horrible. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’ve seen worse. A lot of the black and white pictures could use improvement. I love your coloured pieces so much more then your black and white pieces, they’re still unprofessional looking, but I think the fact that the black and white ones looked way worse was because perhaps you need practice with shading. The writing on the sides of some of the coloured pictures take away from the picture quality.

Others: Maybe you should put down somewhere on the page that the pieces are listed by the author’s name. The fanart of others is thumbnailed, but there is no ALT text at all. A lot of the fanart in the other’s section is stuff that should not be included on any fanart site, but a minute amount was eye candy. I definitely don’t want to comment any more on other people’s art simply since they did not submit the site. An e-mail address should definitely be included on the authors’ pages with a web site URL if they have one.

Donate fanart:
- it might be wise to include the forms of files you’d like to have the pictures in (ie. bmp, jpg, gif)
- Sailor Moon is naturally a bit of a hentai show, there’s no sexual poses in it, but there’s certainly a bit of artistic nudity and Usagi even freaks out in episode 181 because of what she thinks is going to happen between her and Seiya (I wont mention any more just in case you haven’t seen that episode)
- The word "include" is spelled wrong and I don’t see a reason for saying “soo…”
- Rules could be better laid out

Requests:
- it might be wise to have a form for your requests, especially if you plan to draw otaku senshi

Overall: There’s barely any content. There are several spelling errors considering the amount of text on the entire site and the site could definitely go through a revolution in becoming more professional. If I didn’t have to review this site and I came of my own accord then it would probably be what I call a “five minute” web site experience. There’s nothing here that’s going to stick out in my mind. My main advice is get more content, fix up some minor errors and try to stay away from pop-ups (pop-ups are almost always evil). There wasn’t even any links to other fanart sites; the site’s practically empty.
From ~ Kaioh Michiru, now it's time for me to zzzzzzzzzz...
