The Senshi Creator
theme: otaku

A useful splash page, good. The layout is the first WHAM that I notice, GREAT improvement. The about is short and tells me just what I need to know. No exageration, no extra crap, military. great! uh-oh, the rules open in a new link. oops. rule three can be broken into two rules, first that the intructions must be understandable with nothing left to assumption, and second that basic colours must be used, red instead of cherry. that makes it less confusing.
Form opens in new window too. fix! There are some errors, it's 3:00 not 3:oo. You missed and 'e' in request. you say the form is down, but it's still here. the submit button is gone, but it's less confusing if you just get rid of the whole form. still, no problems. you might want to make the white bg into something else. it looks clean, just a little dull.
Gallery-why is there so much space after the rules? anyway. it's great that you put the rules on the main page, so people cant skip reading them. Now, this part I don't like at all. everything has been converted to text links. there is no way anyone, like me, is going to click everylink back and forth. the way it was before, with a long line of pictures, was better. it was faster and more convinient to look at a bunch of pictures at once rather than individually. also, this layout wastes space. the pictures are put into a small box, so you cant see all the picture at once. not good!
Moon Angel ^.~? didn't she flame I Review? I think she did. how odd.
damn, that's a lot of awards. the setup is perfect, i mean, the links are very well organized.
Link me is at the bottom of link where I didn't really notice it, put it as a link on the side with the rest of the content. there is way too much seperation, I have to click too many links to see the pictures. just have ONE page, set up like this:
By Me:
images of buttons and badges
banners, text linked that open directly to the image

By Others:
sailor skye-
images of buttons and badges
banners, text linked that open directly to the image
sailor kitty-
images of buttons and badges
banners, text linked that open directly to the image

See, that way there is a lot less annoying clicking to different pages.
Overall, there has been vast improvement in the organization and layout. Use my sugestions and it'll be even better.

¤ Gasp, a splash with an actual purpse. There is a god! Now to the bad parts: the color scheme needs work; I can't read indigo on pink or aqua on pink or blue.
¤ A layout land layout...goody. There is nothing wrong with a premade layout, but it's always nice to see an original layout, not to mention the layout chosen was rather cliche. You do not need to bold the text (especially since it's a small point and therefore hard to read). You do not need to use bold colours either; pastels look nicer and are easiar on the eyes (i.e. the glaring gbook button or the garish purple text on the white background). Sadly, there is not really an infromative content on the main oage such as email, updates, or notices.
¤ The grammer need to proofread in the 'About this Site' section; not much fluidity in it. Once again bolded fonts only inhibit reading.
¤ Learn the proper use of a semicolon. The grammer is particularily horrendous in 'The Rules'.
¤ The 'form' is statisfactory, sans grammatical mistakes. The layout/ graphics are also unbearably simplisitic.
¤ Ahh, good, finally, the gallery is arrangened in an organized fashion. The only problem is with traversing backwards in history.
¤ The updates have no year listings and it does not look as it all updates are listed.
¤ The why section satsisfactory minus the usual gripes.
¤ Ahh! The 'Awards I Won' section has no labels to distinguish between the awards. Also, check the source for you email link on the top of the page.
¤ The 'links' are okay, but you do not need the have separate sections for the 'buttons by me' and then 'buttons' or 'badges' and for the individual pics. Your button is still not is standard 88 x 31 size. You should put the links and you buttons/ banner on a sperate page and just displayed the actual pictures instead if text links. The deplorable colour choice renders most of the banners completly unreadable not to mention none are in standard size. Also, I noticed your constant use of the phrase 'come adopt a fan senshi' (okay maybe thats not the exact wording, but it illustrates the idea), I have yet to see an adoptions facility on this site.
¤ Overall, there is a huge improvement, I can actually stand being here. Grammer is still a problem as is layout/ graphics. I was dissapointed to see only a small portion of the browser window was utitlized.

I’m glad you didn’t list your re-direct URL this time around. I’m impressed, the splash page actually has a purpose, though the font on top of the senshi is extremely illegible. The title on the top of the page shouldn’t have the abbreviated form of your name; TSC is not the name of your site. The abbreviation “TSC” tells me nothing about your site…which brings me to my next point. Isn’t the title (The Senshi Creator) rather boring, it’s just as bad as a title like “My General Sailor Moon Site”. I guess I’ll go into both versions just to see how they look.

Inline Frames: The layout is very pink to say the least. It’s a rather small layout, but it is nice. Glad you chose to give credit to layoutland.com.

The Meat: You have horrible grammar in the “About this Site” section, but it does show that you are dedicated to your endeavor. The rules are clearly laid out. It really annoyed me how your form also just had “TSC” at the top of the browser. In “The Gallery” section you have a few more spelling and grammar errors. In addition to that you use the term “scout” even though your site is called “SENSHI Creator”; stick to either Japanese or English terms! I don’t see a need for the gallery to open in the new window. You have the gallery set up in such a way that opening it in a new window is unnecessary. There are two Sailor Americas, but no Sailor Canada :(; maybe I should request one some time! Whoever named Sailor Slut must have been a very disturbed person 0.o You are a dedicated webmistress for posting so many senshi, but it would be useful if you put the senshi names in alphabetical order. I applaud you for the fact that you put pictures wider then the frame in a full sized window. This site hasn’t been updated for a while, but updates are still nice to see. In the “Awards I won section” this “Award :Win” looks incredibly bad as a method to show every single award you’ve won. I don’t understand why the buttons/banners/badges by you/Sailor Skye/Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Silver Kitty/Sailor Kitty are in so many different sections. How can you justify having approximately 15 individual pages devoted to different graphics that can be used to link you? Personally, I’m not fond of any of the graphics, and you appear to have no 88x31 buttons. If I link anyone then it’s either by text or by an 88x31 button. Argh…all the linking graphics open in a new window as well, I would not spend the time to try and find a button I like on this site because it would take to damn long. Glad “I Review” is linked though.

Netscape: Horrible in comparison the inline frames layout. It just looks like the layout you had last time we reviewed “The Senshi Creator”. Yet again I find myself annoyed with the “TSC” at the top of the browser. The layout in this section isn’t really a layout at all. It’s just a pink coloured bar on the left side of the page containing all the links. You should either scrap the Netscape layout or find/make a better layout for this section, because right now it’s causing me to cringe.

Overall: This site has improved a bit from my previous encounter with it in November, but it still needs some work. Even though the Layout Land layout is great, you should still produce your own graphics. Minor errors should be fixed up and a more adequate layout should be provided for the Netscape version. I’d prefer if you made homemade layouts, containing the senshi you make. This site is extremely organized, but suffers from too many pages that feature banners/buttons/badges to link the webmistress. If I had a fan senshi site, then I would be here in a second to get my homemade senshi, because even with all your mistakes, I can't deny that you are good at what you do.

The splash page is cute - very organized and clear. It's good that you offer seperate versions for IE and Netscape users. I'm choosing the IE version.
Hmm, the layout is simple yet nice. It would benefit from an image (maybe a title graphic atop the table?) but otherwise it's pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. It's a shame that you didn't design the layout yourself (try www.lissaexplains.com for an HTML tutorial, if you're interested).
This is an interesting idea for a site. I'm rather intrigued. Maybe I'll have you make me a senshi! Whoo, it sounds fun already. The grammar on your About page isn't so great, though - perhaps it's the work of the Typo Demon. "I really do care if I don't get your senshi to you on the same day that I receive it or if you think your senshi look like they came from a trash heap." I'm confused. Do you or don't you care?
Hey, the form is closed! You say it'll be back up at 3 EST, and its midnight as I write this. What, do you mean three in the morning? The fun is somewhat ruined if I can't request a senshi. Look, you ruined my fun. Meanie.
You use both "senshi" and "scout." Choose one and stick with it.
The graphics are adorable. (I was especially amused by Sailor Harriot Potter.) The navigation on your gallery tends to confuse, though. You need some sort of separation between the categories. I thought "Men Royalty" was a category until I realized it was actually two. Position them on different lines or place a marker between them, or something.
You haven't updated since November? Why am I even reviewing this, then?
I like this site very much, and I do hope you simply forgot to update your updates page, because I want to request a senshi when the form's back up.

Notes: Text links as far as the eye can see! Loads very nice.
Crash Count: 0
Well, the first thing I see is a splash. Well, on the upside, it's useful. it DOES show two different versions of the site? My problems? The text overlapped on the figures is, as some might say "Completely and utterly unreadable". And it's an image, so I can't highlight.
Wow, it's random section picking time!
Once I get in (The iframes version, I assume), the layout at least strikes me as nice. Very tasteful. It was taken from a layout site, but credit is right there on the front page, which is always a good sign.
I went back and checked out the netscape layout. One one hand, very plain, but on the other hand, quick-loading and simple. But back to the iframes!
About and Rules look great to me, the author's very clear about things.
Ahh, the author has made the wise choice of having the form open in a new window. Although it's a bit plain, it's a lot better than if she were to keep it in that tiny iFrame.
Gallery. It opens in a new window, but it's the same layout and everything.
And now, the pictures. While it's obvious that they all originated from the same set of senshi images, the image editing itself varies a lot. Some of them are extremely well-done, while others just terrify me. Where it's just a matter of recoloring, things go great, but as soon as it gets into hand-drawing additions.....well, then things get scary.
And stay away from the men. Far away.
Not far enough.
In originality, they vary from "Sailor Sun" in red and yellow and orange, to a senshi in a bunny spacesuit. I love fanifc authors. Let me say it again. I love fanfic authors. (NOTE: This is, I know, a result of submissions and not of the site owner herself. I just love fanfic authors)
Judging by the color, she's using KISS doll images. Such a relief. Have you ever seen anime screenshots recolored and the hairstyle changed? It's not a pretty picture, believe you me.
And, I know this isn't the author's idea, but some of the colors these people are using are absolutely seizure-inspiring. I love fanfic authors. (Sailor Freaky lives up to her name.)
On a much more objective note, the layout and navigation of the gallery is great. A lot of galleries are a huge pain, but this one's very well done.
Want to see something funny? Look up "Sailor Sun"and "Sailor Star". I love fanfic authors.
Spelling? There was the occasional typo, but I stress "occasional". It was pretty good, no deliberate misspellings.
In the "Why" section, my KISS theory was proven.
Awards page. Now, if you're going to do awards, take an example from these people and use text. (Don't get me started on trying to make random awards align nicely!)
The banners. Now, most of us get rid of MSpaint banners after being able to make better ones. Apparently, she kept them up, and they terrify me.
Broken links? Didn't find any. Major credit for that one.
Overall, polished. The graphics-on-request site is nothing new, but she gets bonus points for all the freaky fansenshi they send her. I mean that literally. Did I mention Sailor Freaky yet?
