July: AQ WPR
Sera Palla's Enchantments

OH MY GOD! We're going to review the world-famous Amazoness Quartet WPR?! WOW! *sniff* I'm so honoured....
.
.
.
waitaminute. This..this isn't the AQ WPR. This...is a different AQ WPR.
uh. okaaay.
First off, it is just wrong for a new WPR to name themselves with the same name as the real AQ. There is a multitude of Sailor Moon characters to be named after. I find this to be the oportune time to mention I Review's originality. We are not named after a team. Not even our favourite characters. We all have the ai/i/eye sound in our name. So think of something original for crying out loud!!
A WPR is an example to the..."community". They should not be found making such grievous errors of having a MIDI that turns on automatically. Even worse, the blue text to too light for the white bg. I have to highlight it so it can be read.
What's more, the navigation. There is this cool box that slides out. It took me around 45 seconds to work this out. I honestly thought "there's no links, I guess the review is over!" Most people skip the intro.
It's damn unfair to name the site after the head reviewer. I mean, how would Ironmouse and Jadeite feel if this was called "Fisheye's Reviews"? Pretty insignificant.
Rant aside, on the technical stuff. I'm doing it in point form now.
-Splash pages suck. Unless there is an option to choose, they are utterly useless.
-Why is there a star next to 'newest'?
-Why the hell are they named Sera instead of Sailor? Sure, that's what it sounds like, but the actual word is sailor. It's almost an insult to the Japanese fault of not being familiar with the letter L.
-The name of site makes no sense. I would not have known this was a review site by the title.
-The picture quality isn't that great.
Can you beleive all of that was from the front page alone? heh. on to the meat.
I have been to other reviewing sites, and all they do is criticize one's page, and I don't appreciate that at all. I want to know the truth, but not the brutal truth! So, I created this site with the idea to give precise reviews without the flames or the YELLING.
-Ironic that the word yelling is in caps, making it seem like she is yelling.
-I do not yell at the sites I review. If I did, it would be like this: "How DARE you name yourselves after the AQ!! They are so much better than you!" Notice the difference.
-*growls* It is a reviewers job to criticize a site. We are not fuel for the webmaster's ego. If something is done wrong, I will be blunt about it.
-I have not received one flame regarding a review. Comments in a polite manner, but not one flame.
-Having a disclaimer is one of the rules to submitting. I'm sorry, I have to be valley-girl to say this but, that is like, so dumb.
-Does it matter what amount of time a site has been on the net? That does not affect a review. An amazing site can exitst for two days and still be amazing.
-There are no reviews, and yet they have a section for past reviews. This bothers me to no end. Wanna know what I Review did? I went out, picked some sites randomly and reviewed them before I published. This allows the people who are thinking about submitting to get to know your style.
-direct linking is illegal? uh-huh. In which country? *muttered the canadian fish*
-5. Don't use a light text on a light background. Duh, duh. Oh. My. God.
*huff puff*
*refrains from swearing*
Review yourself before reviewing others! A WPR that doesn't take it's own advice. >.<
so that people don't have to highlight the text to be able to read it. Which is exactly what I've been doing for this whole site.
Well, I haven't gotten any reviews yet, so I don't have any sites to put here as good examples; my favorites that I've reviewed so far. That's just grammatically confusing. Another empty section, bah.
Overall,.....I'm thinking of saying 'this site sucks' but I won't. This review is long because it's more like a rant, not that the site has a lot of content. Get some.
You might be wondering why I'm so harsh here. I see all WPRs as examples of what sites should be. Full of original content. Opinionated. Did I mention original?

The image on the splash page isn't the best quality, and I would suggest smoothing the skin colors a bit.

As I enter, I see... this is a WPR? And it's named after the Amazoness Quartet. Oi, that's kind of threading on dangerous, ain't it? At least you haven't gone as far as the 'The Worst EVA Pages Ever', but you're pretty close.
Anyway, I'll do my best to be fair, but since you're so new I would suggest getting another theme. The Amazoness girls are taken, even if you use their Sailor forms.
The light blue text is a bit hard to read, make it a notch darker please. The main banner is also a bit spotty, try to clean your images up a bit.
You're using some pretty advanced coding here, might want to create a 'light' version without Java and CSS. If not, then add in the splash page that you need IE5 (possibly NS6, never tried that one) since the floating frame didn't show up in my Netscape.

Starting with the reviewers info, I wonder why you choose us if you
don't want the brutal truth ;) Also, I think Sailor Ceres should be the new addition, not new edition to your page. And wouldn't it have been smart to have all reviewers, at least, before getting reviewed?

The rules are a bit fuzzy. Is a pure facts side, like Hitoshi Doi's, amusing? Or is it merely informative? I suggest making rule #3 a bit clearer. Also, you might want to explain the words hentai and ecchi to newbies.

In the sign up page, please put the text outside the application form itself. Believe me, many people are hopeless when it comes to clearing a form or address field before they enter something new.

And can't that floating Java navigation thing move faster? Grr, I don't like waiting for it to come out.Suggestion: Right-align your text, and I won't have to sit and see a load of white space float by.

No reviews are up, making this place e-m-p-t-y. Ah well, maybe you'll get a few applications soon.

Why have a previous review link when there's nothing there? Pages without content are bad!

Okay, moving to the tips page. Nani? What does tip #1 mean? First you say html knowledge is good (I agree) Then you say that you investigate pages made in pagebuilders, and it's good if they're html. Excuse me, but what does that matter? You don't have to know any html to use most pagebuilders, the whole idea is that they generate the code. If you mean 'avoid places like Homestead because they use Java for everything', then state so clearly! I don't know how Geocities' work, but I think the ones over at FC and Angelfire
are html based.
You break rule #5, as I said earlier.
What you say about Netscape in rule #7 isn't true, it can handle frames (they were actually first with it). What it can't handle is floating frames (frames not touching the side of the screen in any way), but most newbies don't use those. People who do, well, they should know this already.

In the link us page, it would be nice to offer a pre-made html code, where you just have to insert the image name. Since many people who ask to be reviewed are quite new to making pages it would be helpful; besides it's polite.

There are no links. Disappointing, you should at least link a few WPR's, like the Amazoness quartet (and us!), one or two pages about your characters, and maybe a general html-page or two. Webmonkey, for instance.

Overall? I can't really judge this site since their main content isn't up yet, but the layout is cute and original, even if I think that should make a version for older browsers too.

I would suggest getting out and trying to find a few places to review, trade links with other WPR's and change the theme. Not only because I feel that the original AQ have right to it, but to avoid flames. The Sailor Moon community isn't a very nice one, sadly, and a name like that is bound to draw flamers.

Pretty okay site, I guess, but very empty as of yet.

Entrance banner: Cute. It's the Amazon Quartet.
Frontpage- It in blue. Probably because it's Sera Palla. It's another reviewer place! Mwhahaha, I get to review another reviewer!
About your Reviewers- Jesus, only a day or so after I scope out the page before reviewing it, and already they've got a new reviewer. One 15 year old and two 16 year olds. I like Juno. She likes alot of the same animes that I do. Rules- "No hentai, but ecchi is fine"? So you mean, no porn, but hey, naughty-- in the perverted sense-- sites are fine? That's a weird rule.
Sign Up- Hey, that's a neat little form. Man, if I didn't review sites myself (and if I had a Sailormoon site that was more than just four hundred gathered images) I might sign myself up to be reviewed just because the form is cool. (Yes, I do stupid things like that on a regluar basis...)
Reviews- One site awaiting review. Well, that would mean the site is realitively new, ne?
Previous Reviews- Empty. But, like I said, the site seems fairly new.
Tips- They seem to have disreguarded their own tip-- Don't use light text on a light background. Sky blue text on white background is damned hard to read! Link Us - A set of fairly predictable buttons (the Sailor Amazon Quartet) to link by, but that is so be expected.
Favorite Links- None there either.
Review Info- My oh my, precentage grade? I don't think I'd be able to actually grade a site in percentage... or even a one-to-ten type thing. I like the way we do things at I Review, but hey, whatever floats your boat, eh?
