Crescent Light
Theme: Sailor Venus

This site belongs to one of our former reviewers, Aino! Hey, how's it going. On to the review!
The layout sucks. It's very basic and the colours are too bright. I know you can do better! It looks like it was slapped together in a rush, without much thought. I mean, compare this to the layout for Minako Frienship. Even the font is boring.
I love the image used for the updates page. Again, white is pretty boring though. Another thing I reall appreciate is how things are linked when updated. I hate it when dates are in numbers, just use words! So much easier to understand at a glance instead of coutning months on my fingers.
?? You already have an intoduction to the site on the main page, but there is another page for the introduction. WHY? The series info is stuff everyone already knows, and the site info is obvious. Why is there a link to your contact section here? Are you to tell me to sign your guestbook?!
Hmf, the bg image is the same all over. Dull now! Hm, it changes for the Anni special. I really wouldn't call three months much of an accomplishment worth celebrating beyond the 'woohoo' in the updates. This ep guide is really cool and must have taken a long time to compile. This would be a really great reference guide for..something. BUT they keep getting longer and longer, which I don't really like. You don't need to have the dialogue or set up the scene, cause that makes it an whole ep guide instead of a minako-centric guide. Anyway. The Sailorvenus section is really good. It could be a bit more entertaining though. It's pretty extensive seeing as it goes beyond what I'm used to seeing in character descriptions. Good job.
Why is this stuff filed under a 'special'? this is all normal stuff to have at a Minako shrine, you shouldn't need an anniversary to put this stuff up.
I'm glad you talk about Makoto in the friends section cause some people tend to forget her. But the opening line sounds like they are friends by default or something.
You should really go into more depth about the stuff she does to win the StarLight's affections. It was a whole season for crying out loud! Gee, there are a lot of people here. Again, Good work! Pictures, too!
oh my god, it's a totally original section! I've never seen this before anywhere! YAY! I mean the chart about the effects of her attack. Maybe you should make a pie chart or something to show whether you think her attack is any good. This must have taken a while to do! This shrine is providing a lot more information than I thought it had when I first went into it. A lot of people would look at the main page and dull layout and flee, thinking this was just another profile shrine. So get a make-over and you're on your way.
I love Minako quotes. It's a shame so many got cut out!
God, I'm no where near finishing this site! I thought this would be quick! ;_;
WOW! Volume by Volume summaries of the Sailor V manga! That is such good content! WTH? Motoki was in the V manga? Ah, continuity error! That's funny. Wow, you can really the resemblance to Sailor Moon when reading the Dark Agency.
Once again there is a TON of information and stuff to read for the birthday special. It's all well writen too. I think I'll come back here when I'm more relaxed to read through everything. I'm happy that despite the repetition of characters in sections such as "Crushes" you recognize that the relationship is different so you don't just lump everything together. Manga, Anime and V versions of Minako are all different and it's GREAT that you recognize that.
Hm, this thing on her name was all writen by Ian Millar, so you might as well not have it on your site. Just link to his. I don't like seeing the same thing published in two places. Minako may not have received the curse from Ace, but she might be under one that he saw and told her about. I would also say that Minako IS forced into being Sailorvenus, because everyone is forced by circumstance and ..whatever.. to be what they are. It's not like she woke up one say and said "I think I'll be Sailorvenus!" cause if that were true we'd have millions of senshi running around.
Okay, on the Entertainment stuff. *rolls up sleeves*
You must have a bigger screen then me cause I get scroll bars under the Minako image. At least you changed the layout. SEVEN HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR?!! *_* Gosh. These screenshots are great! Very good quality and they are big. If you still worked for me I'd use this site as a source for eye pictures! Dag, yo. This is really good work. I was expecting, like, a lot of variations on one image, but these are all different poses. Gosh. I'm so glad you have an easy use policy, cause this would a great source for anyone in need of Minako images. YAY! Okay I'll stop gushing now.
HEY! You've got the Romeo & Minako fic! I love that one!! Anyway, you have synopses, which is the one thing that MUST be on a fanfic page. I'm happy I could cry.
There is more silly stuff here that I've never really found amusing, but whatever! This stuff is normally used as filler, which you don't need! I love the wallpapers. The Essay doesn't belong in this section, put it in with the information. I think Minako let out her mature side because she wasn't yet comfortable working in a team. Once she got used to them and they became her friends she let out her crazy side. *shrugs*
Site stuff...ARGH! Why is this centered?! You should know better than that! Gee, even your personal site has a Minako twinge! ^_^ Your buttons have code, your links are super well organized, what more could I ask for? (a link to IR?) you've got too many banners though. The contact stuff with dashes sounds a bit confusing, simplify it. Hey, your gb is on your own site. I always thought that was tres cool.
What? I'm done? *whew!* In a nutshell (this is Minako in a nutshell! Oh Austin you're so funny), this site has a ton of great original content and superb technical stuff but with a boring layout. Sup it up and you've got something as good as usagiandmamoru.com!

Main: I’m not particularly fond of the main layout. The background is a little bright for my tastes and as cute as the picture of Sailor Venus is, I just don’t think its layout material. The introduction on the main page explains what the site is on a basic level (which is all that’s needed). I’m glad that you have “page last updated” information on the main page. I hate going to sites and now knowing whether they’re active or not.
Introduction: The expanded introduction is excellent, telling me exactly what to expect in the various areas of the site. The background is pretty.
Information: The profile was boring (yawn), I always thought that Minako was 5 feet even. Most profiles say that but I could be wrong. Try and present the profile information in a more interesting way. You must have spent a long time compiling this episode guide.
Anime: The only thing I have to complain about in terms of information is the fact that you sometimes have a lack of continuity from one paragraph to the next. For example, in one paragraph (in the Aino Minako section) you talk about how Minako has a good high jump and then you jump into a paragraph about how Artemis and Minako tease each other. And in the paragraph about how Artemis and Minako tease each other, there’s a few little errors in the third sentence (just grammatical ones, I doubt they could’ve been picked up with spell check). You must have done a lot of research for the enemies’ section. I can’t believe that you actually have information about every individual crush that Minako has had (and screen shots) as well as for all her friends. The Three Lights should have a picture up, a picture of all three of them wouldn’t be hard to find, you could also point out how her crush on them dissipated a bit when she found out the truth about their genders. You could put up more detailed friendship information, but since “LA DI DA” exists, I guess I’ll let you get away with not having it up. If you want to (you don’t have to do this of course) you could put a link to “LA DI DA” up on the Friendships page because it’s such a great information site for Minako’s relationships. The quotes are interesting but you should get more.
Sailor V: The Sailor V section is a nice addition to any Minako shrine and is a rare site. My friend just recently gave me the first two volumes of Sailor V, and I read all the translations a year ago, so now I’m reading them with the authentic Japanese Manga. Anywho, I’m getting off topic again. The summaries for Sailor V are very well done, but my only concern is the fact that you tend to lump one summary into a large paragraph with no divisions. Perhaps under Sailor V’s powers, you could describe each power to make it more interesting. It would be nice if you had pictures of Minako’s crushes, friends and the Dark Agency.
Manga Focus: By spray painting part of Minako’s arm white (on the layout), it looks like you’re trying to hide a flaw in the picture. (Probably just a part of someone else’s arm or hand since I know that came from a group picture). The Manga summaries that are completed are excellent; I can’t wait to see them done. You state this about Kunzite in the crushes section “Venus is shy towards the intimidating king”, Kunzite is not a king, just the head of the generals. Everything is well explained in this section.
Enemy Counterparts: Fairly well explained, but you should include CereCere of the Amazon Quartet if you think they’re counterparts (I personally think they are). You could also try to draw conclusions with the Stars villains, but that might be a little bit too mind-boggling. It would help if you had images of the counterparts so you could even compare Venus and the villains in terms of appearance. Misconceptions: For some reason the “misconceptions” page has a left-right scroller on my browser. The misconceptions really do eliminate some of the negative attitudes and/or perceptions that people could have about Minako.
Entertainment: Images: The picture of Venus in the right frame has two annoying scrollers. The Manga scans also have a left-right scroller, you could stand to get more Manga scans, but the screen shots are impressive.
Fan Stuff: I’m glad that you have the artist’s name under the fanart, but sites should also be linked if the artists have one and you should try and find out Jaina’s e-mail address. Your collection of fanart is really small right now, try to take measures to expand it on your own by asking fanart artists if you can post their pictures on your site, they’re usually pretty receptive and friendly about it, sometimes even flattered. I’m glad you have synopses and the fanfiction doesn’t have right-left scrollers, I’ll come back and read some later. I’ve already read both of Kotetsu’s; those two pieces are pure genius.
Downloads: Maybe you should expand the Avatar section to different sizes. The Wallpapers are purdy; I’m going to put up a new one considering that I’ve had my Galaxia one up for so long.
Others: YKYLSVTMW was funny but the reasons to like Sailor Venus were really lame in my opinion. I thought you did an excellent job defending Venus. I can’t believe people who think they’re perceptive by pointing out the fact that Minako supposedly de-matures in the Manga. Other articles about why you like the senshi would be desirable.
Site-Related: The awards you have up are actually meaningful, hurrah. The link to “Crescent Locus” is dead. Your link list is impressive and you have banners and buttons of all sizes. Contact and credits are nice to see.
Overall: The border background used throughout the site gives it a look of consistency, but I found that it was a little overused. Hurrah for having adequate credits. The layout could be better, but is at least user friendly. This site seems to be a content-rich site rather than a graphics rich site, but it really is refreshing to see a Minako shrine of such high quality. Sometimes I had troubles with left-right scrollers, and sometimes I found that the paragraphs needed more fluidity, but overall I was impressed. Lots of pictures and content.

Oh, what's this? Hi Aino! *waves madly* I is gunna reviews you! Ignore the few sentences that may come out like that, Aino. I was at a football game last night and out waaaaay to late after that for my awakening at seven this morning...
Layout - It's nice, but the image of Sailorvenus cuts off too abruptly. There's a big whtie space beneath her! It would probably also be wise to clean up the edges of the hand in cropped image. It be all bumpy. It's a fairly basic layout, so I can't find fault in that. Sometimes, the most basic of layouts are the best. *nodnod*
Places Aian don't go - Would be Site Related. I checked. Aino's so nice to make a section purely of places Aian doesn't bother to review.
Introduction - Wow, a really basic Introduction to Sailor V. With small notes to what each section is. The layout does change from the intro layout, but that's fairly reasonable-- I've said it before that small tables are quite hard to put lots of information into.
Information - At leas the changed layout stays the same, but then, I'm pretty sure you, Aino, understood that since you used to review with us. I knew there was a reason I liked Minako. We were born on the same day! (Okay, so that's _not_ the reason, but it is true. My birthday is October 22.)
Oooh, Misconceptions revealed. Cool. *shrugs* I knew about the Supersailorvenus thing, the non-bimbo thing (I have read the manga after all!) I never trusted those first name things because they were FAR from accurate on myself, my brother, my father and my mother... I didn't know about the "curse", since I never got that far into Sailor V, or the Aino Minako not meaning what everyone says it does. But that's probably because I was going by the romanji translations, not the original kanji. Might also have to do with the fact that I can't read kanji!
Entertainment - And we all know where I went first. *pounces on the fanfics* These are really good. You've got a nice selection, Aino-chan! Big selection of pictures *huge, wide eyes* And if I want to actually finish this review, I can't look at them all... but never fear! Aian will, without fail, pounce on pictures because she's like that, mwahahahahahaha!! *coughs* Sorry. And you changed the layout again... but it appears to be only in that section... Avatars? Oh! For live/deadjournal, right? Eh? Oh, it's ezboard. They look about right to fit live/deadjournal though. There are some really nice wallpapers in there.
Nice Essay. I liked it. Funny... I never actually thoguht of Minako as a ditz. Usagi, sure, but never Minako. She was always just the tired veteran trying to get back to being a normal girl, after seeing that Usagi could pull off both and stay the same. *shrugs* Whatever.
And that's it for this review. Catch ya laterz, my dear Aino-chan.

Notes: I'm back! I didn't know this reviewer, she left before I came along. And I also want to say that it's TOO MUCH! Mau, what're you trying to do, put me into shock on my first day back on the job?
Crash Count: 0

I'm going to quote what I said up there, this is a LOT of work for a reviewer back on the job. Look on the bright side, there's not much for me to complain about!
In fact, as I'm frantic right now, I'm going to make this as short and sweet as possible

1. DAMN there's a lot of information here. I mean a LOT. I mean a ton. I mean frighteningly so. (Note. In the anime section (either summaries or friendship), it's "pursuit", not "pursual".
2. The front page image is sort of messy-looking at the edges, there....

The information sections are very in-depth, and have a lot of stuff in them. Now, I know this is a good thing in a character shine, but I'm under so much stress!
The pictures are organized and thumbnailed all very nice, and load quickly, too. There are 744 of them, and the author still manages to maintain her focus. A lot of site's ENTIRE series galleries don't amount ot that much, and ones this tidy are tough to find.

While I'm raving about the sheer amount of stuff here, I'd like to mention that there is a very tight focus kept on the shrine. It is all Minako, all the time, folks. No throwing random "Sailor Moon Says" applets in because they are "kewl" here, folks!

Things are credited neatly and diligently, especially fanart, where such things are a must. The fanfic is the same, and synopses are used (Which is good, because titles are SUCH good references and all..) Avatars are something you don't see every day on sites.

Wow, a "You Know You Love ____ Too Much When" list! And you were doing so well, too! The lists are somewhat token, and a bit of a peeve for Nine.
And the Reasons To Love bit sounds more like a Minako Word Association game, to me. The word "Rei" might need a bit more of a supplement to convince me to love Minako, I fear.

On Views Of Venus is really only on ONE view of Venus. Ah, well. It's very well-written, even if I don't agree entirely.

Site-related is a blur of links that Nine will need to meditate on for weeks until it comes into focus! (Okay so I'm "Pulling an Aian".....shut up.)

Overall, all-in-all, and in general? It's a good site, one that doesn't give up focus for content, and doesn't give an inch in an argument, apparently. Design tasteful and easy-loading, and Sheer Amount Of Stuff enough to make a reviewer panic. I know, I did.

Your layout is just plain ugly. It looks like something made in pagebuilder. At least is is a Minako shrine and not another Usagi one. That's always a good thing. Okay, let's see where to start. First off, you need to keep a constant layout. It bugs me when you don't. The tiled background you used is original, but it's a FREAKIN TILED BACKGROUND!! You don't need to have a contact link on every single page. Just the front will do.
The information is plain and straight out. Since I don't know a lot about Minako, I can't really correct you if you're wrong. Maybe you could spice up your pages some? The profile is layed out in a simple table, and looks so drab.
The anniversary special was interesting I guess. Once again, a different layout. Yet another pagebuilder looking one as well. How dissapointing. The sailor V part was yes, that's right, on a different layout. You sure do have a lot of information. I sure hope it's all correct, because I'm moving on. These sections always bore me.
God bless the good old entertainment sections. Most of the time, they aren't really entertaining, but you have to take what you can get. You have quite a few images, all nicely :coughs: thumbnailed. FYI: tumbnails aren't a shrunken down image of the original. You must make separate images, one will be the tiny tumbnail that you use. Just so you know in the future.
The fanart was "tumbnailed" the same way. I didn't really like any of the pictures there, but we all have different tastes. The avatars weren't entertaining, but whatever. They were just shrunken down copies of your gallery pictures, some cropped horribly, some are pretty good. Same goes with your wallpapers, although you didn't make any of them. But you did give proper credit, which is always a good thing to do.
Your you know blah blah blah venus list was pretty dumb and redundant. Every anime character shrine has one of these. Why? We don't know. Most of the time, they are stupid and repeat themselves and have no real humor in them. This is one of those times. Well, we can't all be hilarious comedy magnets, so I'll go easy on you. This time.
Overall, this site was a great dissapointment. Learn how to make real layouts that stay consistant throughout your site, and make real thumbnails. Spice up your info some or else visitors will get board before they finish.

*Clicks on link* ACK! *falls back on chair*
The red is way to much, it's better than orange or yellow I suppose, but I think it would be best if the background color was either white or maybe a nice shade of blue. Or black... but that's not very Minako-esque is it? Oh well, I tried.
The name of your webpage is nice, it's original yet fitting to the character. I also commend your layout, even though there's a bad color choice, it is still nice. Some people like bright colors I suppose. All of the stuff at the bottom could have been stashed somewhere else, just to make your friends with slow modems happier, though they proove to be no problem for me.
I find your intro interesting enough, I was willing to read the whole thing, that's a good sign :) Your subpages are such a relief to my poor eye's. You've successfully managed to not have your text overlap your background. They also contain only a little red, good job.
Now your actual introduction is boring, maybe a little less informative and a little more personal, alot of stuff in here belongs in your information section.
I sure wish people would actually listen to/read those notes that request others to not take your stuff. But they don't, and never will. The content in here is very nice, you have a wonderful amount of it. The information page has wonderful content that I can tell you worked hard on. The sub-sub sections sort of take me off track from the rest of the webpage, but they're needed unfortunatly. I won't even bother with reading the misconceptions, I might start to complain alot if I spot something I don't agree with ^^;
I have nothing to say about the entertainment section other than nice job. I love the fact that your pages all have navigation so you can get around quikly, good thinking ^^ Your page is nicely organized, with great content. It was a good choice for you to not define your content alot (ex: having both a media and entertainment section). It makes your page far more attractive and less confusing. I only have a problem with the main page layout color choice.
