Theme: WPR ![]() Normally I have a problem with splash pages that aren't for pop-ups, but this one is okay. I do have a problem with the colours. The buttons and the counter (how I love Korea..) do not match the hazy scheme you got going on. You might want to leave those for the link section and put the counter on the main page. or get a smaller one or something. Now I gotta say. You've been submitting everywhere. It's REALLY fuckin' obvious you're only doing it to get links. People go to some WPR, see the review for your WPR, and voila, instant traffic. I hate it when people do that! This is a review service, not a link provider. On to the other matter. Your gimmick sucks. You only review for two months? How dumb is that? You site might as well not exist. You contribute nothing. Go work for an established team instead of trying to be cool. It doesn't work, you just look like morons who can't handle school AND e-mailing a couple reviews a week to an owner. So I hope you are aware that no one is impressed. Yet more stupidity: the chick in the layout is wearing a huge coat, yet this is a summer themed place. What the hell's up with that? How bright do you have to be to put a chick in a bikini on the layout of a summer-only site? -_-; The layout is very pretty. I hate the font, though. The colours are visual humidity. Yeah, this font susks, it looks like a lot of the words are stuck together. and for heaven's sake, don't center text, it's ugly. According to the about section, the previous WPR (which I've never heard of) disapeared due to some reviewed person getting pissed off. Gee, that's the best reason to close a WPR!!! [/sarcasm]. Please stop calling yourselves wonderful. You ain't that great. Oh look, it's that parapara_aq chick. She's the WPR-town bicycle. I really dislike your reviewing style. It's almost impossible to judge sites on a scale of 1 to 5. That's really stupid, it's doesn't give you much leeway. Hey, you have back buttons, great. UGH! I'm really getting sick of this font, it's so hard to read! Attempting to read the rules is setting me right off. Stop saying official this and official that. What is unofficial reviewing? There's no such thing. >.< Why do I want to submit this site? Cause I want it reviewed, dumbass! What a stupid question. Or do you mean Why do I want this site reviewed by YOU, specifically? Oh yeah, I keep forgetting, I can't even say the name of this WPR because it's so damn generic I can't remember what it is. Do you have any idea how many sites have Star-something in their title?! bah. Simply, your queue does NOT belong inside your archieve. Those are two totally different things. Look up the word Archieve in a dictionary and maybe you'll understand. ??? I recognize one of the site titles here, Your Heaven is my Hell. And these yahoos wrote H***! What the HELL is that? Are you afraid that hell is a bad word and you might get spanked?! geez, I know you guys are young but that's just silly. Also, you have some reviews under 'in progress' yet the link to the reviews there. What is THAT? If a review is complete, put it up. If it's not complete, or in progress, then don't put it up! Damn, your process is really getting on my nerves. Reading...ecchi is not worse than hentai, it's the other way around. Ecchi is 'perverted' and hentai is porn. Now, it's pretty obvious that Seiya of this team used to work for PHR and doesn't like her. Seiya skipped reviewing PHR and has a nasty comment in the links section. I really don't understand why people hate Moonie so much. Other than that the site section looks fine, well organized. Reading the guestbook, I agree with what Haruka-chan posted. Learn to take criticism, don't start fighting with another WPR cause it really makes you look stupid. There is also someone in here complaining of a 'bad' review from PHR. Shit, if someone doesn't like your site don't whine about it! Stupid people...*mutters* Anyway, I'm glad this is a pretty bravenet gb, and the colours match the layout, so yay. Fanart has no place in a WPR so get rid of this section. Reading the article...what?! I have NEVER come across a WPR that refuses to review gay themed sites. You got any proof of that statment? Stop using multiple question marks, it looks dumb. This topic has a lot more depth that what you wrote, I suggest you either delete this article or re-write it. Okay..this pissed me off. The events of Sept. 11 are SERIOUS. Three thousand people died that day. It is not something you write an idiotic fuckin' sailor moon fanfiction about. It's really insulting. How about I kill your family, then someone write a story about Sailor Moon coming to 'kick my butt'? Yeah, I'm not too happy about that one. Overall, this site seems to be feeding Seiya's ego. She sounds like someone who wants to brag about having a WPR without doing a lot of work. There's too much 'extra' crap here with little reviewing. I can say write now that I do not respect your opinion one bit, which is essential to a good WPR. Oh yeah, when you close in two months, I assure you that this site will be forgotten. ![]() ¤ Well you claim to use a 1024 x 768 resolution (you had better make the layout take up the whole window or I will be thuroughly angered) so this splash page is not completly pointless (though it borders redundancy). Color is not an option so listing it is pointless and by requiring div tags you could just have sqaid that this is a no netscape site. There does not need to be a link to your cliques, it distracts attention. The splash page is a front door; the door is a portal to one place and one place only, keep it that way. Affiliates should also be on the main page or a link page not the splash. One the positive side, the layout thus far is nice. ¤ The layout is nice (the picture quality is very good), but mundanely bland and overused. Also, this layout would be fine in 800 x 600, which invalidates the need for a splash page. So you only review during summer? Why don't you just sign up as guest reviewers at another WPR? That seems more logical to me, but to each his own... The updates are on the main page; good, but perhaps linking the updated sections or atleast bolding them to let the viewer know it is important would help. ¤ In your 'about' section the words 'one' and 'bad' are repetitive. So your WPR shut down becuase of a flame... odd. If you are affected that easily by flames should you even review? A reviewer should be emotionless and detached when reviewing, otherwise they will tend to bias their reviews in order to recieve positive feedback. the third paragrph should read 'Tery met the greatest layout producer of all time, Li-Alynn'. Also, these layouts are not that 'great'; nice yes, but great no. The second sentence should have 'were' instead of 'was'. ...'Sooo' As a reviewer I cannot believe you just typed that. You write this as though it were an epic pice of literature (and I find it highly irritating). ¤ Sailor Star Healer states: "I... am mostly concerned with layout quality and content'. Aren't all reviewers supposed to be concerned with those elements? ¤ Why are the rules justified center? Your third rule is redundant since it is subjective not objective and cannot be measured. Instead stating 'must be substantially complete' or limiting the number or currently under construction pages would be more rational. Four isn't a rule. ¤ The form is satisfactory, though the fields border on being to small. The comment field should be wider. ¤ The archieve is inappropriatly named. It is more of a status section then an archieve. ¤ You link buttons are of good quailty for the most part, but you don't have any full size banners. ¤ If you give descriptions for some of the links, then you should do so for all or not include them at all. You spelt supposedly incorrectly. Why is there a disclaimer at the bottom of the links? ¤ This is a review site... so why is there fanart? There are other forums (fan art sites, personal sites, etc) in which to post fanart; this should should only contain material relevant to reviewing. Not much fanart, and only one listed artist... ¤ There is only one rant... I'm starting to think this was added to create the fascade of content. The rant is barely related to reviewing; in the future try posting reviewing-relevant rants. ¤ The 'starlight twists' are superfluous and idiotic. These out to be in the fanfic section of some NON-REVIEW site. These are so garrish and incorrect politically I wish to leave immediatly. ¤ Well we are done. This site is overall very cliche and unsure of it's mission. Overall I'd suggest reviewing at one of the other WPRs or deciding on a goal and creating a unique identity. ![]() First thing I would like to comment on is the name, though I know that "Starlight" and "The StarLights" are completely different things, I believe that there used to be a WPR called "Three Lights Review" and I thought that your site was somehow related to it, simply because of the name. It also sounds like you just chose that name out of the blue because you thought it sounded good. The splash looks nice, but isn’t necessary by a longshot. The layout is purdy, though people seem to be overusing Final Fantasy pictures on layouts now-a-days. About: First of all you shouldn’t have an “About” section if it only contains two subsections, it’s annoying. In the “Reviewers” section, I understand that you want people to choose their reviewers but these profiles are just boring. The picture for Chibi-Chibi isn’t even of Chibi-Chibi, nor does it follow the pattern of the other three pictures. No offense, but I find the mottoes/phrases pointless, with no real indication of what the reviewers are like. The objectives section doesn’t really list your intentions as a WPR, it’s more of a history of the WPR. What’s so special about the summer program, I hope you don’t only intend to review during the summer. Review: Rules seem fairly strait forward, but you should be bolding everything you put in capital letters, italics also works for emphasis. Or you could even do both. The first letter in ecchi shouldn’t be capitalized. Hentai is technically defined as “perverted”, so technically if someone has a picture of a senshi in henshin than it could be deemed as perverted by you, but not by the webmistress, that should be clarified. A flame is different from stating one’s opinions. If you open yourself up to flames, than you might find yourself dealing with rude and vulgar people who have no business writing to you. In the “submission” section, I still don’t get it…do you only review in the summer, because if so, that’s a really stupid idea, WPRs are meant to be run year-round. If you get an application that’s full of gibberish, than it’s mine (just so you know, I always like to check forms), the page one goes to after submitting should not be the main page, but rather a page that simply says something like “Thankyou for submitting”. I’m glad that you’re trying to get another WPRs opinion about your review site early on in the game, but it will be difficult to judge your reviews if you only have –counts- 6 reviews, wow I feel privileged at being able to read so many rolls eyes. These reviews don’t tell me anything I don’t already know about the sites, try and elaborate, teach, impart, tell me if the site is truly worth my time and the energy wasted in clicking on a link and waiting for the site to load. This is one of the comments on a section of a site “Funny Reads: Cute”, yup, that sure does tell me a lot. These reviews are a waste of time, next section please. Sitey: I’ve never seen 25x25 buttons before, I must admit that those were kawaii. I’m glad that you have 88x31 buttons, they are the standard size of button. I’m glad you gave credits, but now I know how you were able to make the layout so nice, gotta love Animewallpapers.com. Though I don’t agree with some of your opinions about WPRs, they are still interesting. I’m glad that “I Review” is linked though. Fun: Why do you have fanart on a review site? “One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn’t belong.” I didn’t come here to look at art, but since I had to venture into this section I might as well look at it. Fanart is purdy, but not desired on a WPR site, if you’ve got a personal site or Sailor Moon site than move it to that location. Wow…one whole article that’s…wait a second…184 words long, I copied it into the Microsoft Word that I’m currently using to type this out. Articles should generally be 250 words or more, an article that short just looks sad, it looks like you don’t really know enough about the subject to have a solid opinion on it. I agree that Haruka and Michiru’s relationship is beautiful, but there’s so much more you can say about it. Expand this article and add new ones if you intend to keep this section. Could be that I’m not American, but I didn’t find “Our Contribution to America” very funny, plus I’ve already seen such a battle using Gundam Wing pilots on “V-chan’s Page of Random Anime”. The rest of the scenarios are slightly funny, though they are reminiscent of Starlight Pops and have nothing to do with reviewing. Again I must state that these should be moved to a different site. Overall: You’re lucky I’m in a good mood because my prom was a few days ago. Centered text looks really unprofessional, plus it’s more work to put the centre tags in. You have several spelling and grammar errors on your site. Just things like using “their” instead of “there” and leaving out necessary words. Just as Wendy’s once had an ad that said “Where’s the beef?”, I’m now forced to ask “Where’s the content?”, is it hidden under a rock somewhere? You seriously need to get your reviews up to par with the rest of the WPR world. From a fairly disgruntled, Kaioh Michiru ![]() Let me start out by saying, if the theme of your site is summer, then why in the hell is there a picture of Domonique in a heavy winter jacket? Does anyone know? If so, please raise your hand. I don't really like your layout, it needs some spice. It's just too plain and I don't really prefer tables. How would you spice up your layout you ask? Well, I don't really know. But I'm not here to help, only criticize.YUP! That's I Review to a T.. I skipped right over the about section. That's boring and useless to me. Onto the reviews. In your splash page, you say that you use div layers. But in the rules page, the rules are all centered and look messy. I suggest you go back and look at or change the alignment to left. It would look much better.I don't agree that you should make people link you before you do their review. What if you never get to finish their review and this whole time they have a link up to your site for you doing nothing? I suggest restating that to be "you must link us after we finish your review" Do you actually have any finished reviews? Any at all? You have a long queue and a nice chunk of "reviews in progress", but no finished ones. Your site has been opened since May 4th, and you haven't finished one review? Kinda hard to believe, but whatever. I have decided to go through one review, (the one for Pure Heart Review) and deciepher your reviewing style. First off, Seiya refused to review PHR "under certain circumstances". This is wrong. No matter what the circumstances may be (ie: you hate the webmistress, you were fired as a reviewer there, you got a bad review from PHR) you have no right to refuse a review. As long as the site submitted follows your rules, you have to review it. I don't like your site, but here I am, reviewing it all the same, because you asked us to. LingLing's review was okay. Not bad, but not good either. She didn't go in depth enough to really call it a review. The only problem she found was with the coding error popups that her computer gave her. You guys use points for judging, and boy do you guys like to give them out. For the errors score, she gave PHR a 5/5, then states "only the errors mentioned above". Okay, if you mention errors in a site, then you wouldn't give the error score a perfect 5/5, now would you? No, I don't think so. :Pats LingLing on head: Then you say the most wierdest thing ever "Sorry for being so hard on you guys. No hard feelings? ^_^ " First off, you weren't rude or mean. You were WAY TOO FREAKIN NICE!!! Second, why should you apologize if you were? Your review is your opinion and you should not have to apologize for it. I skipped over the sitey because those sections always suck and plunged into the so called "fun" section. First off, fanart, an article about Haruka and Mirichu's love life, and some stupid stories do NOT belong in a wpr site. They belong in personal sites. No one is going to come to Starlight Reviews to see this stuff. When they venture into this god-forsaken site, they would like to see finished reviews, actual articles, and people who will review sites that follow their rules. Maybe the webmistress should go to Web Page Review Sites 101. They review sites no matter what as long as they follow the rules, they finish reviews, and they don't have stupid so called "fun" stuff to do. A wpr is just that, nothing more. And this wpr is going through the shredder as we speak. Bye, Bye! ![]() Ooo :) Attractive layout, and it's not so bright that my eyes will melt! The splash page was also used wisely, very good. It's also easy to tell that you have good HTML skills, I have a feeling that this will be a totally positive review. This layout is perfect for a review page, since the text isn't mushed together in the center. Though sometimes layouts over shadow the content. Now for the 'About the Reviewers" page, it's rather informative, but not informative enough. For Rates, you all answered medium to hard. If you want people to pick "worthy" reviewers, then make them have more variety, at the moment, if I wanted my page reviewed, I would just choose my two favorite Sailor Moon characters. Since I wouldn't have much of a choice. Oh, so you don't have any reviews finished... ah well. The rules page is pretty simple, which is nice, I don't like having to go over rules pages with 20 complicated rules. Um... can't say much about the form... it's a form... wee. I could never understand why people called these pages 'Sitey'... but that's out of my control. Not much to say about this part, it's nice and organized. The links work, that's also good. And you linked I Review :) How sweet. OOOO! FUN SECTION! Hmm... nice artwork, but couldn't you have a sepperate website for all of this? I don't know... I mean, this really has nothing to do with your review site at all. Well, all I can say is that your page is attractive and it's easy to find stuff, but it's empty content wise.
